INFORMATION FOR THE THOROUGBRED SPORT HORSE COMPETITOR
Congratulations on joining the Thoroughbred Sport Horse Association (TSHA) and best of luck with your thoroughbred sport horse. The TSHA’s main job is to liaise with the show societies to organise thoroughbred only classes and to gain sponsorship from the Racing and Equestrian Industries to support these classes with substantial prize money.
Who is eligible?
To be eligible for TSHA classes your thoroughbred must be registered with the Australian Thoroughbred Stud Book. No part bred thoroughbreds will be eligible. To compete in the thoroughbred only classes you must purchase a competition licence with the TSHA through Global Entries Online.
How do I obtain my licence?
- The licence can be obtained by logging into globalentriesonline.com.au
- Go to the ‘Manage Horses” page
- Click on the “TSHA licence” button and fill in the details
- If you don’t already have an account with Global Entries it is simple to create one and then follow the instructions above.
You must provide a microchip number. If this is not possible please provide your horse’s race name and/or their breeding (dam and sire). If you are having trouble finding the information please send us an email and we can help you info@thoroughbredsporthorse.com.au
The information provided to us via your licence is very important. This data will go towards the statistics for rehoming and repurposing racehorses and is a key reason for the industry sponsorship.
Licence Information
The cost of the licence is $55 per year.
Your licence runs for a full calendar year from the date you pay for your licence which means every horse gets 365 days of value for money.
The TSHA is a not-for-profit organisation and the licence fees collected go towards the costs of running the TSHA. Any left-over funds are channelled back into prize money and rugs, ribbons, garlands, etc.
The licence fee is for competition purposes only and is not proof of ownership.
*** Note regarding entering thoroughbred classes at popular shows where entries fill up very quickly ***
We recommend you purchase your TSHA competition licence before entries to popular shows open so that you don’t miss out/have problems entering classes.
Additional details
Any prize money will be paid to the winning rider. Connections of the horse must organise the prize money split, if any, between themselves. Any horses and riders competing in the TSHA Thoroughbred classes 1.05m and over must also hold EA registration.
Renewing a TSHA licence
You will receive an email advising when your licence is due for renewal. Your renewal is easily done through “Manage Horses”.
Transferring a TSHA licence
TSHA licences belong to the horse (not the rider) and are fully transferable. There is no charge to transfer the licence.
If you purchase a thoroughbred with a current licence and would like the licence transferred, you need to do the following:
- Contact info@thoroughbredsporthorse.com.au. We will transfer the licence to you via your Global login. We will also supply you with the horse’s TSHA licence number.
- Login in to your global account (or create one), go to “Manage Horses” and enter the details for your new horse as well as the TSHA licence number we supplied you with
- Once you press “Submit” the horse will then appear under your login.
Please note, even if the previous owner supplies you with the horse’s TSHA licence, you still need to contact us to transfer the licence. The transfer will not work just by entering the horse and putting the licence number.
Happy riding and we look forward to seeing you all in our TSHA classes soon!!
